My Ebay Policies

SHIPPING
Depending on the item being shipped, I offer several shipping options. Any shipping method that is legal for your item, of services offered by the U.S. Postal Service, United Parcel Service and FedEx, may be used. Buyer pays all shipping costs.

  • Items weighing less than 12 ounces after packing may be shipped by First Class Mail for a fixed price as listed in my item description or as calculated by the shipping calculator, if I use that. (It includes my cost for the padded envelope, small box, etc., and will be less than Priority rate.)
  • Items weighing up to 16 ounces after packing will be shipped Priority with free Delivery Confirmation.
  • Items weighing between 1 to 4 pounds will be shipped your choice of Parcel Post or Priority with Delivery Confirmation.
  • Items weighing over 4 pounds will be shipped your choice of Parcel Post, Priority, UPS or FedEx Ground/Home Delivery.
For MOST fragile items, glassware and pottery, shipping insurance is required. For all items valued at $15 or more, shipping insurance is required.

Note, I do not include the UPS option in the shipping calculator in my Ebay pages because I have found the calculator to be wrong for UPS. But if you prefer UPS I will give you a direct quote, at your request. I will also give you a direct quote for FedEx if you choose that shipping method. I love FedEx because I can pay for the shipping online, then drop it off 24 hours a day at Kinkos. Currently, FedEx Ground/Home Delivery is the lowest priced shipper for most areas of the U.S. for items weighing over 4 pounds. (Be aware that UPS and FedEx take longer to deliver than Priority mail does, and I have no control over the speed of the shipping carriers.)

HANDLING
The hidden costs of listing, shipping, and receiving PayPal payments keeps going up. If I add those costs to the price of my item, then Ebay and PayPal "double-dip" by charging fees on their fees. That is not fair! So I am now adding a small handling charge to my shipping costs. It is usually 50 cents to $1.00. If it needs to be more than that, my auction description will state how much the handling charge is.

DELIVERY TIMES
From the time of shipment until your package arrives, it all depends on the shipping service -- but here are some estimates of usual delivery times.

  • First Class Mail usually takes a week to 10 days;
  • Priority Mail generally takes 5 to 10 days;
  • UPS Ground, Parcel Post and FedEx Ground or Home Delivery generally take 5-14 days and
  • Media Mail generally takes 2 to 4 weeks. Those times are within the United States.
  • International Mail delivery times vary from 1 week to 4 months, depending on shipping method you choose.

PAYMENT
I accept almost any payment method you wish to use, provided that...

  • it is in U.S. funds,
  • it is for the full amount of the cost of the item(s) plus shipping, handling and insurance, and does not exceed that full amount by more than $5.00.
  • does not require me to join anything in order to receive it,
  • and it does not cost me a bank fee in order to receive it.
For credit card payment I currently accept the online methods of PayPal and Western Union Auction Services (BidPay) and Google Cash. (I will consider other online services if they do not cost me more than PayPal.) I charge a $1.00 handling charge if you forget to include the shipping, handling and insurance costs the first time, when paying (because PayPal charges me more if paid that way). If in doubt, please feel free to email me for the total before paying.

PACKAGING
I believe in conservation, so therefore the packaging materials used to wrap and pack your item will be recycled materials, except for Priority Mail boxes and padded envelopes. This saves trees and nature, and also saves on packing costs which I can pass on to you as savings on shipping costs. I have purchased over 1000 fragile items from other Ebay sellers, myself, so I know first hand what is necessary to protect your fragile item, and I pack very well. I have not yet had anything that I've packed be damaged during shipping.

RETURNS
Returns are accepted on most of my items, within 3 (three) days of receipt, as long the item (1) is in the same condition as it was when received, and (2) if my marks are still on the item and (3) it is packed and shipped in the same way it was packed and shipped to you. (4) Shipping insurance IS required on returns. (5) Please notify me of your intent to return the item before sending it. Unless it was seller error, only the purchase price will be refunded, not shipping costs. Refunds will be made by the same method that the original payment was received (except cash).

BREAKAGE OR DAMAGE
I pack very well and have not had anything damaged in the mails, yet. But if it does happen, please keep the original shipping box and all of the contents, and email me for further instructions. A claim will be filed with the appropriate carrier and your refund will be sent as soon as they process the claim. Proof of damage may be required. Do not mail damaged merchandise back to me, as that VOIDS your claim.

FEEDBACK
I have been buying and selling on Ebay since 1998, and have observed that the Ebay feedback system is quite flawed. I also note that leaving it is voluntary, according to Ebay. However, many people do value receiving feedback, so I will leave feedback for you after I know that you have received your purchase and are happy with it.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS

Your shipping choices are any of the appropriate shipping options offered by the U.S. Postal Service. International shipping costs are higher -- sometimes double or triple what it costs to ship within the USA. The most commonly used options are Global Priority, Airmail Letter or Airmail Parcel. I now require shipping insurance on most International shipments, which will be purchased from an independent shipping insurer.  Usually, international payments that fulfill the above payment criteria, are U.S. cash, International money order, or an online payment service.
